Berlin with the Goplens

While my parents were in Berlin, I was able to show them around a lot of the sights.  On the first day they were here, we headed down towards the Potsdam area and saw a lot of the typical Berlin sights.  We saw the Jewish Memorial, walked around the Brandenburg Gate, and walked by the Bundastag.  After that we walked down Unten den Linden to another nice area called the Gendarmenmarkt where we walked around and then met Ryan for dinner.  After we got back from our trip to Prague, we toured around the Rathaus Shoneberg, where President John F. Kennedy made his famous speech in Berlin.  We then headed over to museum island where we walked by the Jewish Synagogue.  It was a synagogue that was destroyed in the war but was restored.  After this we met up with Ryan and then toured the Berliner Dom.  This was my third time in the Dom, and everytime I am still amazed by it.  It is so beautiful inside and the top of the dome has some unbelievable views of the city.  After the church, we got some dinner, watched some good ol' futbol, and headed home.  The next day, I met my parents to take a tour of the Bundastag, the German government building.  We got to go to the top of the dome and we learned a lot about the history of their government.  Unfortunately, I had way too much homework to finish before my class, so I let them continue to explore Berlin while I went back to yuck.  They went to see Schloss Charlottenberg, the palace where Queen Sophie stayed during the summers.  Ryan and I met up with my parents at one of our favorite local restaurants for some good dinner.  After, Ryan and my parents went and took a tour of Olympic Stadium while I "went" to class online.  The next day we were off to Paris!  Au revoir Berlin!

A "vehicle" we saw where you pedal and drink beer...good way to burn those calories!
