GERMANY!!!

After a 17 hour flight, we safely arrived in Berlin on Friday. We have been able to become acquainted with our surroundings since our arrival. Today, we bought our S-Bahn and U-Bahn passes...that's the public transportation system here. After we got our passes, we used them right away to go find some German food and a grocery store. We didn't have to travel far to find either. We ate bockewurste and longe weiner for lunch with pommes fritas. In English, we had a bratwurst and hot dog with french fries! I think we will know some German by the end of the summer....or at least some food words...the most important words of them all.

After our lunch excursion, we made a trip to the grocery store. It was quite a different experience than we are used to. First, everything is in Euros...obviously. And, everything is measured in the metric system...kilograms and liters. HOW WEIRD! Ryan and I used our math skills to do some converting. I'm sure we looked real goofy. We brought our groceries back to our apartment and then headed out to see Berlin.

We took the train to a downtown area and saw a few sights of Berlin. We started off our sights with a piece of the Berlin Wall that was still standing. Then we walked around the Sony Center. After the Sony Center, we saw the Reichstag building, which is the German government building. Then we went and saw the Brandenburg Gate. We walked around Tiergarten park and then found some dinner. All the sights were incredible to see! It still doesn't seem like we are an ocean away from home. It was absolutely gorgeous here today and we are still in awe at all the awesome things around us.

Here are some pictures from our day as well as a few pictures from our apartment. Enjoy!
